On 8 and 9 December 2011, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova is in Denmark for an official visit and to take part in a conference on women’s empowerment and education, entitled “Women as Carriers of Development in the Global Reality”. “
Education gives a voice, it encourages political participation, it increases opportunities on the labor market. There can be no equitable and just society without achieving gender equality -- and this begins with education,” says Irina Bokova. “It gives girls and women skills to imagine the world as they wish and tools to shape it in this direction”. During her visit, the Director-General is also going to visit the LEGO Foundation to explore a potential future cooperation.
